Day 1: Yangon Arrival (D)
Mingalabar! Welcome to Myanmar. Today, arrival at Yangon International airport, meet Go Myanmar’s local tour guide and the driver then will transfer you to the hotel. In the evening, enjoy our welcome dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 2: Yangon City tour (B)
Being the largest city in Myanmar, Yangon is a charming city with a combination of nature and cultures and communities for tourists who want to see a different Asia.
Today is a full day to take a close look at the local life of this historical city today by vehicle and partly on foot. Start the day with a visit to the Sule pagoda in the center of the city. From here you can walk around the Mahabandoola Park to see the colonial courthouse and the city hall.
Next up, visit Bogyoke Aung San Market (former Scott’s Market), where shopper’s favorite place (note: the market closes on Monday and holidays).
Later today, we visit the world-famous golden Shwedagon Pagoda, a dramatic and colorful sight visited by Buddhists from all over Myanmar.
Day 3: Yangon – Golden Rock (B)
Leave Yangon this morning to take a drive to the Golden Rock at Mt. Kyaikhtiyo – a great pilgrimage site in Myanmar perched dramatically on the edge of a cliff and covered by gold leaf. There is a small stupa that perched atop of the boulder and it’s said that the Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda contains one of the Buddha’s hairs….
Before reaching the pagoda, take light trekking on the summit through the bamboo forest. Upon here, you may see thousands of pilgrims, hundreds of candles being lit up and a breath-taking view at sunset
Day 4: Golden Rock – Bago – Yangon (B)
After breakfast, enjoy a short relaxing walk to a small cave for early morning sightseeing. You can also stop at some roadside shops for rare products of the jungle. Next up we drive down to the base camp to drive back to Yangon. On the way back, we stop at Bago, a colorful town where you will visit the local market and Wood Carving Industry to gaze out at the real life of the people. Your guide then also takes you to visit some famous sites in the city including KanbawzaThardi Palace built by King Bayinnaung, KalayaniSima (Ordination Hall), Shwemawdaw Pagoda, Shwethalyaung Pagoda.
Day 5: Yangon – Fly to Bagan (B)
Say goodbye to Yangon this morning to take a domestic flight to Bagan, home to one of the greatest archaeological sites in the world. With more than 3,000 pagodas & temples dating back more than 1500 years of history, Bagan is one of the fascinating places for visitors to be captivated by the timeless charm of the ancient city.
On arrival at the airport, meet your local guide then make your first visit of the day at Nyaung U Market to enjoy the fresh air and meeting new friendly local people. From the market, proceed to Shwezigon Pagoda, one of the most popular attractions in Bagan. Here listen to your guide to know more about Bagan’s rich history.
Later afternoon, we continue to visit the Ananda Temple, one of Bagan’s most beautiful temples with its architectural masterpiece reflecting Mon and Indian style.
Day 6: Bagan – Mandalay – Sagaing & Amarapura (B)
At noon, check-in at Sanctuary Ananda. Welcome by the crew on board and then start sailing upstream towards Sagaing. After lunch, relax while we pass villages set against a backdrop of soft browns, featuring rich tamarind trees, with white and golden pagodas gracing the distant hills.
In the afternoon, get to know more about Myanmar culture and history by joining an interesting longyi (sarong) and thanaka (cosmetic) demonstrations.
Day 7: Mandalay City Tour (B)
After breakfast, say goodbye to the crew and check out at Sanctuary Ananda to get back to the city. Then spend your full day to discover the golden capital of Myanmar. Visit Mahamuni Pagoda, one of the most religious monuments in Myanmar housing the revered Mahamuni Buddha Image.
Continue on to visit Shwenandaw Monastery, a dramatic wooden monastery which is the only palace building to survive the bombings of World War II. This beautiful teak monastery reflects the finest architecture of Myanmar in the 19th century.
Lastly, visit Kuthodaw Pagoda – the biggest book in the world, for surrounding it are 729 marble slabs inscribed with the Tripitaka texts (Buddhist canon).
Day 8: Mandalay – Mingun (B)
Today we embark on a breathtaking boat trip to sail upstream to Mingun village where is well-known for its huge and incomplete Pahtodawgyi Pagoda and the world’s second-largest bell – Mingun Bell – the 90-ton ringing bell.
In the afternoon, we visit Mandalay Palace, a beautiful construction which was the last residence of the Burmese royal. From here, proceed to the local workshop where you will gain more insight into the traditional production in the region. End of the day, drive up to the top of Mandalay Hill and enjoy the sunset and the panoramic view of the city.
Day 9: Mandalay – Fly to Heho – Inle Lake (B)
Leave Mandalay this morning to take a domestic flight to Heho, the gateway to discover Inle Lake, the mesmerizing natural paradise of Myanmar.
Set on 900 meters above the sea level, Inle Lake is bestowed with natural beauty, pleasant weather and home of Intha people who is famous for the unique one leg-rowing technique. Get on a motorboat to pass through the floating gardens to Phaungdawoo Pagoda, the holiest religious pagoda in Inle Lake and Ngaphechaung Monastery, the largest teakwood monastery in Inle Lake.
Later today, we sail to Nam Pan village to see the cotton and lotus weaving factories as well as cigar producing places. This area gives us a true sense of traditional Intha life. Overnight in Inle Lake.
Day 10: Inle Lake – Indein – Afternoon Fly to Yangon (B)
The morning of day 10 leads you to Indein, an exotic village which is home to the magnificent Shwe Indein Temple. Here you will have an opportunity to soak in the “5 Day Market” and enjoy the scene of exotic market atmosphere and local tribes dressed in their colorful attires. After that, we explore the beautiful temple of Indein, where is noted for more than a thousand stupas. Walk along the corridors and enjoy the giant stupas that have been left to nature for centuries.
In the afternoon, take an evening flight back to Yangon.
Day 11: Yangon – Departure
Today we spend our last minutes shopping at the BogyokAung San (Scott) market before transferring to the airport to take your departure flight.
