Day 1: Yangon Arrival
Minglalabar! Welcome to Myanmar.
Today, welcome by Go Myanmar’s local guide at Yangon International Airport. Then meet your driver who will transfer you to the hotel for check-in. After settling into your hotel, enjoy your time at leisure.
Day 2: Yangon City Tour
A full day to discover the enchanting Yangon. Power up this morning with a visit to the serene Kandawgyi Lake, the most beautiful photo stop in the city where you can take many stunning photos with the calm lake and Karaweik Palace – a prominent landmark of Yangon.
Next, drive through the fascinating city center where you can observe the antique colonial buildings reflecting the late 19th-century British architecture. Your scenic drive then will lead you to Chauk Htat Gyi Pagoda, home to a colossal reclining Buddha image. Leaving the pagoda, head to the Bogyoke Aungsan Market – the largest bazaar in Yangon where you can see the vibrant trading of people in the city. Stroll along the market area to observe a variety of products.
In the afternoon, make your way to Shwedagon Pagoda, the most famous Buddhist pagoda which is the pride of Yangon, if not Myanmar. Take this chance to discover the story of the legend pagoda, observe the local pilgrims paying homage to the Buddha and admire the incredible beauty of the pagoda at sunset.
Day 3: Yangon – Fly to Bagan
Leave Yangon this morning to take a domestic flight to Bagan, the magnificent temple town. On arrival, your guide and driver will take you directly to the jetty to check-in at Rv Kha Byoo Pandaw cruise ship. Welcome by the cabin crew and then savor a scrumptious lunch on board.
After lunch, follow your guide to discover the treasure of Bagan through 3000 monuments scattered on the plain. Return to the ship and we start sailing to Yandabo at 17:30.
Day 4: Yandabo
Today, the ship takes us through the confluence of the Chindwin River. Arrive at Yandabo village, a charming riverside village which is famous for its production of terracotta pottery from the riverbank clay. Disembark for a short excursion to the village to gain more insight into the simple life and the pottery making process. After that, cruise through the afternoon upstream towards Mandalay.
Day 5: Amarapura
The morning of day 5 leads you to Ava, the ancient capital of Burma. Take a morning visit to Ava to explore the ruins, you will visit Bagaya Kyaung, a 200-year-old royal monastery made of teak with elaborate woodcarvings, Maha Aungme Bonza Monastery, the finest brick monastery reflecting the 19th architecture. Afterward, continue to visit the ancient capital of Amarapura and admire the paintings in a temple. Later, fulfill your trip with a visit to U Bein Bridge, the world’s longest and oldest teak bridge. It has been through over 200 years that come one of the most beautiful photos stops in Myanmar.
Day 6: Kyauk-Myoung
Today we visit the spectacular potteries near Kyauk-Myoung where the famous 50-gallon water pots are handmade. Here you will get the chance to see all stages of manufacture from the throwing of the pots to the weeklong firing in huge kilns. We then return to the ship and enter the third defile of Irrawaddy.
Day 7: Kanyat
Make a stop at Khan-Nyat village to visit many Buddhist monasteries and the former head teacher’s house, which also includes his small museum collections. From there e go ashore and climb to the Pagoda Hill at Tigyang to marvel at its stunning views of the Upper Irrawaddy River.
Day 8: Katha
We reach the enchanting colonial town of Katha, setting the context for George Orwell’s Burmese Days. So far, there is a little thing has been changed. This place is noted for the fire station’s collections of the Irrawaddy Flotilla Company’s ship’s bells which was taken from sunken ships in the Second War. Additionally, Katha was the final resting place of the old flotilla and in this place, over a hundred ships were scuppered in 1942 in an Act of Denial before the advancing Japanese. On this excursion, we also visit an elephant logging camp at Katha in the hardwood forests of the hills that surround the town and further upstream.
Day 9: Sail upstream Kyun Daw Island
Today, transfer by Local boat to reach the tranquil Kyun Daw village to visit countless small pagodas.
Day 10: 2nd Defile of Irrawaddy
The morning of day 10 takes us through the 2nd Defile, which is said to be the most dramatic of the three gorges with cliffs towering over the narrow channel. Sail downstream.
Day 11: Tagaung
Day 11 gives you a chance to take a walking tour of the ancient city of Tagaung viewing the fortifications, a famous nat or spirit shrine, and the archaeological area.
Day 12: Mingun
Slip our moorings early in the morning and we leave the ship for an excursion to Mingun, the serene village to see Mingun Bell, the second-largest working bell in the world. Then admire Mingun Pahtodawgyi, the unfinished pagoda that was meant to be the largest single mass of the brick building in the world. Then we also visit the Mingun Old People’s Home built with the assistance of the Irrawaddy Flotilla Company in the 1930s. From there, drive through the beautiful Sagaing hills and head up the hilltop to enjoy a commanding view over the region and Irrawaddy River.
Day 13: Mandalay – Fly to Inle Lake
Today, say goodbye to the crew and check-out at RV Kha Byoo Pandaw to get back to land and transfer to the airport to take a flight to Inle Lake – a gift of nature for Burmese people. On arrival, welcome by our local guide and then we transfer to the town to visit a local nunnery school. Learn about the daily life of the nun and let us bless you for health and happiness.
After lunch, transfer to the jetty to take a speed boat to pass through the endless floating gardens to Ngaphechaung Monastery, the largest wooden monastery in Inle Lake which was built on 625 pillars.
Day 14: Inle Lake – Kakku
Wake up in the sound of bird-singing this morning and make your way to Kakku where an incredible 2,478 stupas dominate the sky. En route, enjoy the beautiful scenery of luscious, green pastures, exotic bamboo and wood houses, and plantation.
On arrival at Kakku, explore the magnificent Kakku Pagoda complex of more than 2000 stupas at similar shape and size which is believed to date back to over 2000 years ago. The site is believed to date back to over 2000 years ago. Take a stroll through the pagoda to explore the unique shrines made from brick and plastered with stucco.
Day 15: Inle Lake – Fly to Thandwe – Ngapali Beach
Say goodbye to Inle Lake this morning to take a flight to Ngapali Beach – one of the best beaches in Southeast Asia. On arrival at Thandwe Airport, meet your guide and transfer to the hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 16: Ngapali Beach Free
Enjoy the whole day at leisure in Ngapali Beach.
Day 17: Ngapali Beach Free – Yangon
Today, leave the mesmerizing beach of Ngapali and fly back to Yangon.
Day 18: Yangon – Departure
