Full Itinerary:
Day 1: Mandalay Arrival – City Tour
Mingalabar! Welcome to Mandalay – the former royal capital of Burma. Upon arrival at Mandalay International Airport, welcome by your local guide and driver. Before check-in into your hotel, take a short city tour for your first glimpse at the city’s highlights.
Visit Mahamuni Pagoda, one of the most sacred pagodas in Mandalay which is home to the highly revered Buddha image. From here proceed to Kuthodaw Pagoda – the world’s largest Buddhist book carved on 729 marble slab. Later on, head to your hotel and enjoy the rest time at leisure.
Day 2: Mandalay – Mingun – Amarapura
Start the day with a scenic boat trip toward the north to Mingun – a charming village on the bank of Irrawaddy River. Here look for the foundation of the world’s largest unfinished pagoda: Mingun Pahtodawgyi. Get on a tuk-tuk at head toward Hsinbyume Temple – an elegant white-washed temple built in the shape of Mount Meru, a sacred temple in Buddhist philosophy. The temple was built by king Bagyidaw in honor of his wife Queen Hsinbyume who unfortunately lost her life when giving childbirth.
Before returning to the boat, visit Mingun Bell – the world’s second-largest ringing bell.
After getting back to Mandalay, we check-in at Sanctuary Ananda, welcome by the cabin crew and staff on the ship. We then start sailing downstream.
In the afternoon, make your way to Amarapura where we visit U Bein Bridge – the longest teak bridge in the world. To fulfill the experience, let take a boat trip to marvel at the panorama of the bridge and capture your best photo.
After that, we continue sailing to Sagaing – one of the most famous religious centers in Myanmar. Admire hundreds of stupas in and out the flourishing landscape of the Sagaing Hill.
Day 3: Sin Kyun Village
Wake up in the pleasant of sunshine and the light breeze from your terrace. This morning, leave the ship to take a short excursion to the serene village of Sin Kyun. Gain more local insights with a visit to the local families and learn about people’s way of life.
After that, we continue sailing to Tan Chi Taung. Enjoy your leisure time onboard. What’s more interesting than sipping a glass of wine on your private balcony while sailing through the beautiful scenery along the river?
Day 4: Tan Chi Taung Mountain
Power up your morning with a cooking demonstration with the Executive Chef. You will have an opportunity to learn more about the local dishes. While the ship sailing downstream to Bagan, it’s a great time for you to enjoy the fine treatment at the spa on Sanctuary Ananda.
This afternoon, follow your guide to visit Tan Chi Taung Mountain to gain a panoramic view of the region. You will also have time to enjoy Elephant dance – the traditional entertaining acrobatic dance in Bagan.
Day 5: Bagan Temple Tour
A full day to uncover the heart of Bagan. Start the day with a visit to Nyaung U Market, the authentic local market in Bagan to gaze out at the local trade. Proceed to Shwezigon Pagoda, the most popular attraction in Bagan. Listen to your guide to learn more about Buddhist teaching from the terraces and the Nats of Myanmar.
Next up, visit Htilominlo Pagoda, the elegant temple which has been survived after many earthquakes. Finally, fulfill your temple trip at Ananda Temple, regarded by folklore as one of the most beautiful temples in Bagan.
Day 6: Bagan & Village Discovery
Wake up in the sound of bird-singing this morning and enjoy the beautiful sunrise from your balcony. After that, check out from Sanctuary Ananda and say goodbye to the cabin crew. Today, take a trip in-depth to the serene village of Bagan to witness the daily life of the people. You will see how people make cigar from corn leaf and live in the cottage.
Later on, transfer to the hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 7: Bagan – Fly to Heho – Inle Lake
Say goodbye to Bagan this morning and take a domestic flight to Heho, the gateway to Inle Lake. On arrival, welcome by your passionate local guide and we visit a local nunnery school before having a cozy lunch in the local restaurant.
This afternoon, passing through the dramatic floating gardens to head to Nga Phe Chaung Monastery – the largest wooden monastery in Inle Lake.
Day 8: Inle Lake – Indein
Rise before dawn this morning and breathe the fresh air in Inle Lake. After breakfast, take a scenic boat trip to Indein – the village of Pa-oh people. On arrival, spend your time to Shwe Indein Pagoda, the complex of ancient stupas scattered on the hill. Walk along the colonnade where you will see many authentic Burma goods and souvenirs.
In the afternoon, visit Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, the most sacred pagoda in southern Shan State. After that, returning to your hotel.
Day 9: Inle Lake – Fly to Yangon
Leave Inle Lake this morning to take a flight to Yangon, the most exciting place in Myanmar. On arrival, transfer to the hotel for check-in. The rest of the day will be yours.
Day 10: Yangon City Tour
A full day to explore Yangon – the city of glistening temples. Start the day with a visit to Kandawgyi Royal Lake – the serene artificial lake offering a breathtaking view to Karaweik Hall, one of the most prominent landmarks in Yangon. Head to Chauk Htat Gyi Pagoda, home to the massive reclining Buddha image. Before lunch, gaze out at the fabulous architecture of colonial buildings. Your private car will give you a window to the ancient buildings on the street.
In the late afternoon, highlight your city tour with a visit to the Shwedagon Pagoda, the pride of Yangon, if not Myanmar. Set on the top of the hill, it can be seen any corners in the city. Take this chance to witness how magnificent the temple is at sunset time.
Day 11: Yangon – Thandwe – Ngapali Beach
Say goodbye to Yangon this morning and board a domestic flight to Ngapali Beach – the hidden gem in Southeast Asia.
